Our HISTORY
FOUNDED WITH A PASSION FOR CHILDCARE
Play Station Nursery Ltd runs three privately owned nurseries in Bristol. These consist of two provisions, the one in Little Stoke has been open for 20 years and the Filton site has been providing Child care for over 5 years. After a long negotiation, two elections and covid 19 we opened (at last) in June 2020 on the Barley Close Primary School site.

At Play Station our vision is something shared and practiced by all who join the nursery. We believe childhood is something that should be relished, never hurried.
We help children learn through play in a nurturing, stimulating environment that feels like a home from home. Children feel like part of a family when they are with us, with confidence to explore and challenge themselves through a wide range of experiences. Staff are empowered to guide but not dictate, strengthen but not overpower, and teach but not lecture children. We know that children learn best when enjoying and engaging in their play, so every day children laugh and have fun, learning independence, confidence and understanding of their role in the world in a safe, loving, respectful, environment.
Ensuring each child has every opportunity to achieve their full potential has to start at the very beginning of their life, so we recognise the importance of our role in Early Years in helping them progress. Parents as partners/carers are integral in our provision, and we share their children’s progress with them at every step of the way.

INCLUSION
At Play Station Nursery we openly welcome all children and their families.
Children accessing Funding are welcomed to the nursery and we accept all funding groups. Where we offer flexible sessions to meet the needs of families. Where other settings may be restrictive we are able to offer varying sessions and options, all year round and a number of term time spaces. We find that this is often hugely beneficial to families who may be constrained by working hours and commute times.
We also pride ourselves on our history of providing support to children with diverse needs. Our experienced practitioners can effectively cater for children with dietary requirements, allergies, certain medical conditions, additional needs and special educational needs.

WHERE IS Barley close?
Play Station Nursery @ Barley Close is a 50 space nursery providing for children aged 2 to 5 years old. The setting is open 8.00am-5pm 5 days a week 49 weeks of the year.
The provision runs across 2 separate budlings in close proximity to each other with private gardens for both buildings. It is situated in the grounds of Barley Close Primary School, where we benefit from working closely with the school.
The outside space is a wonderful place for children to explore, featuring construction, a large climbing frame and slide, sandpit, bikes and trikes, a den, running water, places to hide, and lots of little things to discover and explore.
The 2-3’s and 3-5’s run from the separate buildings but have ample opportunities to join with each other outdoors and indoors where space permit.
Children have free-flow in and out of the buildings into the garden as much as practically possible, we love that we are able to give the children chance to roam and explore their outside environment when they please (with the helping hand of supportive adults).
At Barely Close we are proud to be able to offer swimming lessons between April and September. With a Qualified swimming instructor, we take small groups for swimming to the pool which is situated on the grounds of the school.
